JB- Speaking of entertainment, what is "the" celebrity story of 2008? Is it Britney's comeback? Is it Heath Ledger's death? The writers' strike? Madonna's divorce? What would you say? What's at the top in your books?
TK- OK, Britney. Yeah, that's exactly what I was going to say. But do I really want to give the girl huge props and is it really a comeback?
BM- I think Britney's comeback, to me, is been there, done that. When someone willfully throws themselves off a cliff, if they want to get back up to the top, it's up to them to do it and she's doing it. I think we're seeing the Britney of old, but the Britney of old wasn't a very interesting person. The Britney of old was protected by the people around her and was told what to say and where to go and what to eat and when to workout and how to dance. And that's what we're seeing again. That doesn't interest me.
TK- Like, has she even come back yet? Like, she hasn't even done anything yet. Although, her album Circus did move, you know, more than the 500,000 units than it was expected the first week of release. So good for her, but, poor girl, I don't know if she's ever going to make it back, unfortunately. I don't know, I guess Brad and Angelina are always in the news. Is that old news, Jeremy?
JB- Well, they're always doing something.
TK- What would you say is the biggest news story of 2008?
JB- I had a few of them, one of them was Britney…
TK- Oh wait, oh wait, oh wait! Barack Obama, hello?!?!
JB- I guess it is entertainment. It's interesting how it has become entertainment, hey?
TK- It's funny. American politics is definitely. Watching the debates is like watching a rock show. Unfortunately, watching Canadian politics is, well… it's a little exciting now currently, but it's a little less glam and Hollywood, I guess, which is OK. There's nothing wrong with that.
